The spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) application from Bitwise Asset Management has been updated, and the company has announced that trading in two ether futures ETFs will start on October 2. The Bitwise Ethereum Strategy ETF and the Bitwise Bitcoin and Ether Equal Weight Strategy ETF are both set to start trading, according to the company. Investors will now have access to Chicago Mercantile Exchange Ether futures, according to Bitwise. Many businesses who are waiting for permission for a spot Bitcoin ETF have also entered the race for an Ethereum ETF. The asset management firm Invesco is reportedly looking at the idea of launching the Invesco Galaxy Ethereum ETF, according to a recent article from Cointelegraph. Bitwise, BlackRock, Invesco, and Valkyrie are still waiting for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to approve their spot Bitcoin ETF applications. The SEC has postponed making a judgement due to the impending U.S. government shutdown. The Grayscale lawsuit’s outcome, which advocates for the conversion of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) into a Bitcoin ETF, may also have an impact on when the SEC decides to approve spot Bitcoin ETF applications. On August 29, a U.S. judge overruled the agency’s concerns, clearing the way for the Grayscale spot Bitcoin ETF’s acceptance. The full list of the nine Ethereum Futures ETFs scheduled to gain accelerated approval from the SEC for their launch on Monday, October 2, 2023 has been made public by Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart.
